East and West Lorway Pits

South of Reserve Mine, two shafts were sunk to the Gardiner Seam in 1871. The first shaft cut the seam at 66 feet and served the West Lorway Pit, and the second shaft was 265 feet deep to serve the East Lorway Pit. The workings were not extensive and were discontinued after two years of operation.
